Michael Morris Jr., a native of Atlanta, GA., is a
Professional Dancer, 200 HR Registered Yoga Teacher, & Model.
Michael was introduced to the art of dance at the age of seven and started his formal dance training at the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education. He later focused his studies full-time at the Martha Ellen Stilwell High School of the Arts. Michael’s scholastic ability to excel in his academic studies and dance training simultaneously earned him recognition as one of Georgia’s top dancers in the Governor's Honor Program (2011) and a Gold Medalist in the
NAACP ACT-SO Competition (2012).
Upon graduating high school with honors, Michael furthered his training by spending countless summers training under full scholarships with American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and The Georgia Youth Ballet.
He pursued his higher education studies at the Boston Conservatory, earning a
Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Classical Ballet. Michael studied at the Boston Conservatory as a recipient of the Alfred & Patricia Houston Dance Scholarship and the Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway Scholarship. During his time at the Boston Conservatory, he had the distinct pleasure of performing works by renowned choreographers: “Fits of Hissy” and “Ballad Unto” by
Dwight Rhoden (Complexions Contemporary Ballet), “Autumn Ball” by Uri Sands (TU Dance), “Dream 13” by Adam Houghland (Adam Houghland Dance), “Rave” by Karole Armitage (Armitage Gone!), “Light Rain” by Gerald Arpino (Joffrey Ballet), “Fandango” by Daniel Pelzig, and “A Little Love” by Andrea Miller (Gallim Dance).
Michael accepted his first professional contract with Celebrity Cruise Line immediately after graduating the Boston Conservatory in 2016, touring throughout Europe, Asia, The Caribbean, and The Middle East. In 2023, Michael made his Broadway Debut as a SWING in
Disney's "The Lion King". Michael’s professional performing experience also includes:
New York City’s “Broadway Bares: Take Off” and "XXX", American Ballet Theatre’s Metropolitan Opera House Spring Season, and alongside YouTube star Todrick Hall.
Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic, Michael developed a love for yoga. His daily practice regimen soon transformed into him pursuing and earning his teaching certification. In January of 2021, Michael became a 200 HR Registered Yoga Teacher and now teaches throughout New York City. Michael's main goal with teaching yoga is to help others get out of their heads
and into their bodies.
With dancer and yoga teacher added to Michael's trades, he is now building his modeling portfolio and career.
